At Soar, we are often asked, “How can I get recruited to play college sports?” The real question behind that is, “How do I navigate the athletic recruiting process and find the right fit?”

Athletic recruiting, timelines, exposure, communication with coaches, and understanding division levels can make this process feel overwhelming. In order to support our families through this important part of college planning, we have partnered with our colleague, Katie Andersen.

Katie is a private college counselor based in Dana Point, CA, who specializes in working with student-athletes. She helps students identify schools that are the best fit for the student/athlete, while guiding them through the college athletics recruiting process. Her unique perspective is grounded in her experience as a Division 1 soccer player at Duke University, an alumni interviewer, and a college counselor since 2013. She also brings 15 years of experience working in the software and web design industries across the United States and Europe.

Katie received her College Counseling Certificate with distinction from UCLA Extension and is a member of IECA, HECA, and WACAC. We have known Katie since 2015 and are confident in the expertise and personalized support she provides to our families.

Together, we work to ensure our athletes receive strong college planning along with the additional support needed for athletic recruiting success.
